Of Mice and Men, and Chandeliers

چکیده
How does the human neocortex reliably propagate information through neural circuits? One mechanism appears to involve relying on strong connections from pyramidal neurons to interneurons and a depolarizing action of cortical chandelier cells.

Quality Assessment of the Persian Translation of John Steinbeck’s Of Mice and Men Based on Waddington’s Model of Translation: Application of Method A
Considering the statement that errors can affect the quality of translations, the need to adopt an objective model to analyze these errors has been one of the most debated issues in translation quality assessment. In recent decades, some objective models have emerged with an error analysis nature according to which evaluators can make decisions on the quality of translations. In this study, Met...
متن کاملInduced subgraphs of graphs with large chromatic number. V. Chandeliers and strings
A “string graph” is the intersection graph of a set of curves in the plane. It is known [9] that there are string graphs with clique number two and chromatic number arbitrarily large, and in this paper we study the induced subgraphs of such graphs. Let us say a graph H is “pervasive” (in some class of graphs) if for all l ≥ 1, and in every graph in the class of bounded clique number and suffici...
متن کاملP-28: Protective Effect of Curcumin on The Damages Induced by Nicotine on Reproductive Parameters in Male Mice
Background: Nicotine is a substance that can induce oxidative stress in the testes. And thus may reduce fertility in men. Antioxidant supplements such as curcumin can reduce oxidative stress and thus may increase fertility in men. Since the most active component responsible for the yellow color of turmeric and curcumin has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Therefore this study inves...
متن کاملO-2: A Novel Antioxidant Formulation to Treat Male Infertility Emanating from Sperm Oxidative DNA Damage: Promising Preclinical Evidence from Mouse Models
Background: Sperm DNA damage (SDD) is a significant male infertility factor, yet it is not routinely diagnosed or treated in couples undertaking fertility treatment by ART. Men with this condition are likely to experience sub-fertility or infertility, expose their female partners to greater risk of miscarriage and pass on de novo sporadic DNA mutations potentially compromising the health of the...
متن کاملDepolarizing Effect of Neocortical Chandelier Neurons
Chandelier (or axo-axonic) cells are one of the most distinctive types of GABAergic interneurons in the cortex. Although they have traditionally been considered inhibitory neurons, data from rat and human neocortical preparations suggest that chandelier cells have a depolarizing effect on pyramidal neurons at resting membrane potential, and could even activate synaptic chains of neurons. At the...
